A vote for the "best" evil against the "worst" evil is still a vote for evil-ensures evil-has us evil. Vote for policies that you believe will take us out of the neocon-neoliberal nightmare and that's the likes of Cornel West or Jill Stein. Chris Hedges today- "While a victory for Stein is not in the cards, being honest is crucial, especially when the Stein campaign is capable of OUTLASTING this election cycle and become a catalyst for an anti-war, pro-worker movement capable of taking on the big business-backing, warmongering parties." Capitalized- outlasting is mine. A vote for Stein is an investment in the future-encouraging her likes not to fold but to keep on shedding light on a way out. When this failing American Empire more fully fails and falls, we will need the likes of Stein to lead the way forward.

Chris Hedges is right. And so are you. The lesser of two evils is now about as evil as one could imagine.

Believe her when she tells you what she is: “As commander in chief, I will ensure America always has the strongest, most lethal fighting force in the world.”

That's what I'm afraid of...that I know she means because I know who she is listening to.

"expected to continue to support the candidate put forward by a party that is largely responsible for the rise of the even more dubious candidate." This has been my thesis for a while now, along with we hate one candidate so much that we end up voting for one we hate even more.

I think we are seeing how low we can go by framing the other party's candidate as so much worse than "our" party's candidate. The difference seems now to be the impolite authenticity of one versus the polite inauthenticity of the other.

I’ve agreed with everything both you and people like John Mearsheimer have had to say.

In much the same way that Mearsheimer developed his theory of offensive realism, I’ve developed a “course” as to how to save ourselves from ourselves.

It identifies what we should be striving for, which is happiness, and what we should be avoiding, which is allowing self selected narcissists to increase nastiness.

Although it sounds overly simplistic, it identifies what we need to be striving towards and it thereby makes for the basis of a very good political platform, a non-religious type of way of thinking about things, and the operating system for artificial intelligence.

I hope maybe after the dust settles from the 2024 presidential election someone as bright as you would be willing to critique my course.

It’s not only the best way forward, it’s also the best vehicle to get there.

This is nutz. First off, Medicare for All (M4A) makes more sense at the state level in which all of the revenue necessary to fund a program is already being spent on health care in states like Massachusetts and Vermont. So if those states started tomorrow they could have full M4A run by the state agency that runs Medicaid and CHIP within 5 years with almost no disruption to daily life and no new taxes…you just have to cannibalize a new segment each year into the M4A program starting with state employees and university employees and go from there.

2. I opposed the Iraq War from day 1…at no point did I ever oppose all wars or the US Navy patrolling shipping lanes and US Air Force enforcing no-fly zones and Special Operators killing terrorists. To make it as simple as possible—I opposed forward operating bases/large footprints and taking on responsibilities in foreign lands on the other side of the globe that didn’t make Americans in the homeland any safer. Biden wisely implemented Trump’s withdrawal from Afghanistan and it made America stronger. Biden wisely supported Ukraine against Putin’s asinine invasion and from our perspective Putin has already lost and Russia’s military has been degraded and Europe is much safer thanks to Ukraine’s great sacrifice. And Israel had every right to eradicate the suicide cult that is Hamas and degrade the Iran proxy that is Hezbollah…and Biden had no choice but to support Netanyahu who was the duly elected leader of our strong ally even if he didn’t necessarily agree with every decision he made.

Thanks, Doc. Up until now, I didn't realize that all of those Jewish folk who died in the 1940's were only suffering from Hitler-Derangement-Syndrome. Peace.

Yo, Doc. Your bed-side manner is the fuckin' worst, lol. "You're in Crisis. The meds aren't working. We are late for going on break. It's the weekend. The system is down. This, like all crises was predictable. Here are your discharge papers." Bless yer heart.

Kudos! You have described my thoughts on the Harris campaign better than I’ve been able to verbalize against the threats of all my Texas friends, who are horrified I’m not supporting the Dem. Thank you for the words! As a recovering Democrat, I have been disillusioned with the DNC for over 20 years. Bush was a disaster, as was Obama, the great supposed statesman! Hilary also disgusting. Biden, oh well. Harris? Ugh! I voted Jill Stein lat week.

Glad it was helpful perhaps you should have your friends read it and see where they disagree...if they would ever speak to you again. I worked in Obama’s 2008 campaign and was shattered when he did the precise opposite of everything he had promised. I. 2016 I worked in Bernie's campaign and saw the Democrats crush democracy in real time. I agree the party is irredeemable at this point and am encouraged to hear that you voted for Stein (me as well). Perhaps if millions vote for her they might just get the hint. More likely they'll just obsess about how "we" lost them the election.
