Hundred millionaire Stephen King sides with the ruling class in his enthusiasm for Kamala Harris's silencing of anti-war protestors. Great writers used to serve as the moral conscience of the people.
I do not, necessarily, agree with all of Mr. Kaufman's opinions, but I do agree with most of his assessments. He IS intellectually honest and he presents intellectually honest arguments. IF one has dissent from his opinions they should argue facts, not emotion. THAT is the problem, and the impending doom, of "American" society. I do not require agreement, concurrence or an echo chamber from anyone no matter what their position, what I care about is intelligent dialogue. That is how societies advance and, thusly, that is why this one has not...and, seemingly, will not.
"it’s hardly a surprise as the one thing the ruling class fears most is dissent, particularly when they know they are guilty of crimes that need to be covered up. It is this type of dissent that has the potential to expose them for the hypocrites."
She silenced the protesters again. Once in Detroit when she was “speaking” and now again in Chicago when she silenced their voices from taking the stage at the DNC. She let ex trumpers on stage but not a single Palestinian voice.
Mr. Kaufman, I tried to respond to your essay with some comments. As I am generally in agreement with your views. But your blog would not allow me to submit my comments in full. Instead, I saw a limiting directive which said "Please type a shorter comment." Unfortunately I cannot limit my comment enough to fit into your blog's parameters and still get my points across. Not all ideas can be conveyed in such a short , limited space. Some thoughts require length and time. So I eliminated my comments. I shall forget I wrote them as soon as I can. This is what the modern electronic world has led us to, unfortunately. This is one of the reasons I avoid Facebook and Twitter/X. Now I regret to say I shall avoid your blog as well in future. You shall not miss me.
For the record I have nothing to do with limiting the length of comments and am interested to hear dissenting views as well as sympathetic ones. I have not noticed that Substack limits the length of responses as sometimes I tend to go on a bit....
Thank you for the timely response Mr. Kaufman. I shall try to limit my comments in the future. But I regret to say I shall miss your blog in future if i find I cannot limit my comments. Something definitely limited my rather lengthy comment. I don't know how Substack works. Maybe I just like to watch myself punch the keyboard.
With all due respect, that link proves my point. How could all of Germany think the answer was to exterminate Jews? How could Americans think to this day that black people are meant to be beaten, deprived and enslaved? I could go on. From Robert Reich to Thom Hartmann to MSNBC to Democratic Party leadership everyone was telling us that Biden was "fit as a fiddle" or had a stutter. For years I've been writing about Biden's obvious cognitive decline from Parkinson's Disease and people like you were outraged at the thought. For years I've been saying Biden will not make it to the end of the election cycle, and have been called a Putin bot and much worse. The same way in which the compliant liberal base was so easily convinced no to believe their own eyes, they have been convinced that an unelected, unpopular self-serving former prosecutor who can barely string an extemporaneous thought together is the most joyous candidate on earth. And you are welcome to your joy, just let me have my horror at the moral collapse and overarching hypocrisy of the Democratic Party.
Why precisely are you so joyous about and why and does every photo of Kamala Harris show her with a crazy grin straight our of Mr Sardonicus.? What about the prospect of her presidency makes you so joyous? How did this "joy" appear in every major news outlet within 24 hours of Biden being forced to step down?
Thank you for that. For some the carrot of codifying Roe which has been dangled before them for several decades is more urgent than children being slaughtered on our dime as we speak. Morality and humanity have taken a back seat to elect the lesser of two evils, even if that evil is genocide. And thank goodness we don't have Trump trying to overturn an election because the Democratic primary and the nomination process were so damned Democratic. Er democratic. USA! USA! USA!

Steel sharpens steel.
This M.F.'s is what is called a "Mic Drop."

Sublime, indeed.

It's not "fabricated joy" I'm feeling, Barry.
How wrong you are. A one-note Charlie.

Sorry Barry, your overheated rhetoric and one-note posturing is tiresome.
Donr line that Obama failed to codify Roe into law? SO AM I. I'm also gonna fight like hell to elect someone who'll finally get that done.
While you whine on Substack.
Don’t let a good genocide rain on your parade! How nice to be such a selfish person. All about YOUR joy! 🤩

Are people afraid to criticize Democrats because they are afraid Trump will win? We lost our Democracy when the Democrats became corporatists.
Heh, heh.
Such simple eloquence.
